Surrey Police said Paul Bundy was dismissed after allegations of failure to disclose a change in personal circumstances and mishandling of internal information were proven.
A spokesman said Mr Bundy had been dismissed, subject to any appeal, with immediate effect on Tuesday.
He said Mr Bundy was not subject to a criminal investigation.
“The misconduct did not relate directly to the financial responsibilities of the head of finance role and did not involve leaking to the media,” he said.
