The Defence Police Federation have noted the stories in the media relating to the protection provided by the Ministry of Defence Police to the Atomic Weapons Establishments.
The National Chairman of the Defence Police Federation, Eamon Keating said
“The protection of these assets are our highest priority and responsibility. We are aware that an investigation is taking place at this location. We will be cooperating fully with this investigation and are keen not to pre-empt its conclusions.”
He further stated that it was reassuring to see that the Department had been clear in their statement “we can be clear that at no point was the security of the site or its nuclear assets compromised“ but that it would be inappropriate for the Defence Police Federation to make any further comment at this time, whilst the process was still ongoing and the outcome unknown.
