London Mayor Sadiq Khan has promised to focus his attention on battling knife crime and extremism.
After winning the mayoral election, Mr Khan pledged to be a “Mayor for all Londoners” as he seized the capital’s top job with the biggest ever mandate from the electorate.
The Tooting MP said he would restore neighbourhood policing and tackle the capital's gang culture. He told his supporters he intended to make the city a fairer and more tolerant place, in which all people can prosper and live free from prejudice.
Mr Khan spent his first day in office meeting Met Police Commissioner Sir Bernard Hogan Howe.
