Obituary - Leonard Tough
Leonard Tough, a member of the ROA passed away after a long illness on 23rd August 2008. Len was born in London on 24th December 1927 and after leaving school in 1941 was employed as an Apprentice Locksmith in Bow. He also worked on the manufacturing of coal mooring cables. Len enlisted into the Army on 20th April 1945 and during a long career served in Palestine, Korea, Suez, Germany and Singapore where he was eventually discharged in the rank of Staff Sergeant in May 1971. Following his Army career he joined the MDP at AWE Burghfield from where he retired as a Constable in 1988. Len continued to work at Burghfield in the Civil Service until finally retiring in 1992. On the 24th July 2006 Len joined the Royal Hospital, Chelsea.
Len's funeral service was held on 1st September 2008 at St Mary The Virgin Church, Burghfield Common, Nr Reading, Berks.
His family requested that any donations be made to Chase Children's Hospice, Care of Alexander & Dry, 1 Seal Road, Basingstoke RG2 7NQ.
