Annual General Meeting and Reunion 2007

The AGM and 2007 Reunion was held at the Novotel, Nottingham over the weekend 12th-15th October with 94 members and guests that included President Steve Love, CCMDP, MA, FsyI; Patron Jack Aspinall QPM and Eamon Keating, DPF National Chairman. A warm welcome was also extended to Ch Supt Chris Goldsmith who had recently taken over as Force Liaison Officer from Supt Paul McLaughlin.

As ever the AGM was well attended and members received reports on the work of the association undertaken throughout the course of the year. Thanks were recorded to the Force Liaison Officer assisted by Insp Angela Harney for the valuable day-to-day assistance afforded to the ROA during the year and to DPF for providing meeting facilities.

ROA Secretary Cliff Bucke announced his intention to step down from the post having served for some 15 years, having been first elected at the AGM in 1992. Members paid warm tribute to Cliff for his exemplary contribution and dedication to the association as Secretary. Cliff did however indicate his willingness to stand for Vice Chair and he was subsequently elected to that position. Martin Harrow had previously indicated his intention to relinquish the post owing to ill health. Other changes to the Committee included David King being elected as Secretary and Jon Livitt as a new member.

The AGM was followed by a presentation on force activities and work of the training school by Ch Supt Chris Goldsmith.

At the Reunion Dinner ROA President Steve Love gave an after dinner speech highlighting key events that had occurred in the force during the previous 12 months. This was followed by a short Q and A session.

Generally all who attended enjoyed the weekend event and this year it was good to welcome several new members joining us for the first time.

Next years AGM/Reunion will be held at the Arnos Manor Hotel, Bristol from Friday 10th to Monday 13th October 2008. The Booking Form will be circulated in due course.
