PCSPS 2000 - Update

The Minister for the Cabinet Office has recently given agreement for the development of PCSPS 2000, a new pension scheme for the Civil Service for implementation in respect of both new entrants and existing staff who may wish to transfer into the new scheme. Within the Cabinet Office it has also been agreed that PCSPS 2000 should be formally recognised as an integral part of the Modernising Government Agenda. The target date for implementing the new scheme is April 2001.

A joint statement issued by the Official and Staff Sides, "Your future - Your decision", will be available shortly providing staff with the latest information on PCSPS 2000 and raising awareness of the benefits provided by the existing scheme. It is expected that existing staff will be given (in 2001) a single opportunity to choose between a) transferring all service from PCSPS to PCSPS 2000 or b) leaving past service in the PCSPS and joining PCSPS 2000 for future service only or c) remaining in the PCSPS.
