DPF Briefing
May 2001
How does my travel insurance cover work?
The travel scheme is run by the Defence Police Federation, not MDP. Therefore, when making enquiries and/or claims you must state:
- I am a member of the Defence Police Federation
(although you may not be asked to quote your DPF membership number or Force number, it is advisable to have these to hand)
- Quote Defence Police Federation Policy number: PT123/00 (our former policy number MCT130/99 is still
recognised by CEGA and Cox. Each July the DPF policy is
renewed through Irvine Insurance Brokers Ltd and therefore the policy number is liable to change in July 2001)
- Medical Emergency help is via CEGA:
+44 1243 621093 (within the UK replace the 44 with 0. It is usual in all travel policies to settle up for minor expenses at the time and to claim reimbursement on arrival back from holiday. However, in an emergency do not hesitate to contact CEGA.
If you are travelling to the USA or Canada it is advisable to read Thompsons Solicitors travel information leaflet available on request: 0808 100 0088)
- To make a claim (Claims forms are obtainable from DPFHQ. Please state the nature of your claim as there are different types of claims forms. Once completed mail it back to DPFHQ for processing with Cox Claims Ltd)
- A summary of cover leaflet is available from your Branch Secretary (or DPFHQ or our web-site) and a full copy of the travel insurance document can be obtained from DPFHQ.
- Make sure DPF has your current address and phone no. (MDP do not pass on to DPF personal information)
