Sick Pay at Pension Rate
Officers who suffer the misfortune of being off work due to sickness are normally entitled to receive six months at full pay, then six months at half rate. SPPR is paid to staff who have exhausted their entitlement to paid sick leave, pending the decision on whether there is a reasonable chance of a full recovery and return to work, or whether ill health retirement is appropriate (the rationale being that individuals should not be deprived of financial support - no access to pay or pension - whilst a decision being reached over their working future).
