DPF Briefing
May 2001
Q Q R - Evaluation of the Agency’s performance
The first key element of the QQR - evaluation of the Agency’s performance since its formation - has been completed. The QQR Team has submitted an initial report to 2nd PUS which concludes that the Force has performed reasonably well overall but with hindsight might have done some things better. They highlight continuing difficulties in its relationships with some other parts of the Department arising from different perceptions as to our policing role, and identify weaknesses in internal management processes. There is, they believe, scope for enhancing the effectiveness of the MoD Police Committee in maintaining strategic oversight over the Force, and say that morale in the Force is for the most part satisfactory, but acknowledge there are factors with the potential to affect adversely in the future.
There is now an opportunity for the DPF, Agency Management Board and others to respond to the points made in this preliminary report before it is finalised in the summer.
The next stage of the QQR is to examine the extent to which there is a continuing requirement for the MDP’s services, and whether the organisation should remain an Agency. This of course is a process by which all agencies are subject to. If continued agency status is confirmed the review will then focus on ways to improve performance and enhance the quality of its services to customers.
