New Civil Service Pension Scheme Clawback
Discussions are on going with the Department about the impact of the new civil service pension scheme on the Net Pay Deduction, commonly known as the Clawback.
Our position is that the Clawback should be reduced for those who join the new scheme as by having to contribute a further 2% further erodes the level playing field on which the Clawback was introduced.
The Department’s line is that civil servants who move to the new scheme will not receive any increase in pay to compensate for the increase in contribution. Consequently there will no change in the Clawback rate. In other words MDP will be treated no differently to any other grades.
That is the current position however we intend to pursue further with the Department and will report progress.
