A CIVIL SERVICE PENSION PROPOSAL
The Defence Police Federation are currently in consultation with the MDPGA and MoD Centre regarding the new proposals for Civil Service Pensions. We are not alone in this endeavour and are working closely with the Civil Service Unions.
We would encourage all members to visit the web page www.civilservice-pensions.gov.uk/consultation where you will find all of the relevant documents. Examine these and please let us know of any issues that you feel we should address. Remember, without you we are powerless and your input is essential.
Our main aim currently is to state to government that:
- We are opposed to the mandatory extension of the retirement age from 60 – 65 years of age;
- That we require the protection of all existing pension rights under the present scheme;
- That any change to the pension scheme is by agreement with the individual members.
The overarching issue is that no member should be disadvantaged and as such we will vehemently protect our memberships rights. In order to achieve this we will utilise all of the options at our disposal.
