Pay Award 2007
Whilst it has been agreed to back-date the 2007 Pay Award for MDP officers to 01/12/07 the mechanism involving the proposal and acceptance for this were not agreed until March 2008. This followed the protracted negotiations in reaching an agreement for Home Office Police Forces.
Given that it should have been implemented within a maximum of 90 days it is a reasonable expectation for DPF members to expect the increase and back-dated pay to feature in their pay slips for the period ending 30/06/08.
Yet we face another month where it has not been paid. Nor, apparently, can we be told when the award will feature in the salaries of our members.
To date we have been patient in our negotiating strategy; recognising that a new process is in place - the Change Control Board - and accepting that this may have slowed down the projection date.
However there appears to be an unwillingness within the MoD to fulfil their role expeditiously. As such we will now explore our legal options in this matter. We have also requested an urgent meeting with the Secretary of State for Defence, the Right Honourable Des Browne, MP as we raised our concerns with him in January 2008.
This ongoing issue has already been reported within the wider media and both National Officers have given television and newspaper interviews in relation to it.
We would thank all members for their understanding and support to date and give our assurances that this matter is High Priority.
