Pay Award
The 2007 Pay Award has been agreed for MDP officers as a 2.5% increase wef 01/12/07. To that end we applied to the Official Side for this to be implemented for all members. Following Ministerial approval, a formal offer was then made to the DPF by the Official Side and accepted; caveated that the matter would be revisited if there was any change to the present award made by the Home Office following the current Judicial Review applied for by the Police Federation of England & Wales.
To date the MDP pay increase has not been implemented but the paperwork has been forwarded for the attention of the Change Control Board at MoD Centre to action. Whilst pay awards will be "fast-tracked" it is not in our gift to (a) speed up this process (b) predict when the matter will be resolved.
This situation is a by-product of the wider issues surrounding the PNB negotiating process and the Police Appeals Tribunal decision last year that pay implementation will be a casualty of the issues with Westminster. Of further concern is the fear that this will be an issue again in 2008 when the next round of talks in relation to Police Pay commence.
