Organising Secretary
The Organising Secretary is a member of the National Executive Committee who is responsible for the control of the DPF membership, as well as the enrolment of new members at the Police Training College. The position includes the keeping of membership records, issuing membership numbers, monitoring the movement of members.

Q. I am a New Recruit, when can I join the Federation?
A. While at the Police Training College, a representative of the Defence Police Federationive Committee will attend to give a presentation on the benefits of Federation membership and enrol those who wish to join. On completion of the Membership forms you will immediately become a member of the DPF, with full Federation entitlements. Joining the Federation as a Recruit could be one of the wisest decisions you ever make during your career in the Force. Q. How do I go about Joining the Federation?
A. This is easy; all you have to do is fill in two DPF forms. The DPF/Fin/14. Membership form, and the DPF/Fin/13, Subscriptions from Salary form, both of which are self-explanatory. When the forms are completed pass them onto your DPF Branch Representative who will forward them onto your DPF JBB Secretary. Once DPF Head Office has received your completed forms they will be processed and sent to PPPA CPRO (Bath) who will automatically stop your subscriptions from your monthly Salary.
Q. What is the Cost of the Monthly Subscription?
A. Your subscription rate at present stands at £12.75p per month, deducted direct from your salary. Subscription rates are reviewed at Annual Conference.
Q. I am off Long Term Sick; do I still have to pay my Subscription?
A. When you have been off Long Term Sick(LTS) and you are not in receipt of a "salary on the grounds of ill health", (DPF Rules & Constitution. Rule 25 (1)b) and it has come to the notice of the DPF Support Officers, you will be required to complete a DPF/FIN10 (Repayment of Subscriptions) which will be forwarded to the National Treasurer who in turn will reinstate any subscriptions that you have paid since your pay ceased whilst you were on L.T.S. You will still be classed as a fully paid up Federation member with full entitlements whilst on L.T.S. even though you may not paying subscriptions, in accordance with the Rule. When you return to work, please check your Monthly Salary payslip to see that your subscriptions are being deducted. If not simply fill in the DPF/Fin/13 and return via your Branch Rep to DPF Head Office.
Q. I am taking a Career Break, what happens when I return to Work?
A. Your Federation subscriptions will have stopped with your pay. (Any matters that may have been outstanding before your Career Break, will of course be dealt with by the Federation, in accordance with the DPF Rules & Constitution) When you return to work all you have to do is complete the DPF/Fin/13. Subscriptions from Salary form and send it via your Branch Rep to Head Office, and your membership benefits will be immediately reinstated.
Q. I have left the Federation but now wish to Rejoin?
A. This is a two-part answer depending on the length of time you have been a Non- Member of the Federation: -
- If you have been out of the Federation for less than one year, you can apply through your DPF Branch Representative, by completing the DPF/Fin /13, 14 & 15 forms. Your Branch Representative will send these forms DPF Area Secretary, together with a signed declaration made by you, that you have no disciplinary matters outstanding, and that the Federation will not be held financially responsible for any matters that come to light during your period of absence from the Federation. The facts will be placed before your DPF Area JBB for their approval. Once approved by the Area JBB your application will be forwarded for consideration by the NEC. On acceptance your application will be processed, and you will become a DPF Member with no financial penalties incurred.
- If you have been out of the Federation for more than one year, the procedure is the same as above, except that financial penalties will be incurred in accordance with the DPF Rules & Constitution, which states: -
RULE 3(d) Any person making application for re-entry to the Federation and who has been a non member for more than one year, shall be required to repay six months subscriptions if re-entry is ratified by the National Executive Committee.
Q. My Next of Kin has changed from my initial Membership application, how do I change the Details?
A. Circumstances dictate that you may wish to change your Next of Kin nominee, at any time. A next of kin can be any person of your choosing, please fill in the Federation form, Change of Nominee for Death Benefit (DPF Fin11), and send this via your Branch Rep to DPF Headquarters. (Please note that the Force does not inform the Federation with regards to Officers' Next of Kin changes) It is your responsibility to inform the DPF of any changes to your personal details.
Q. My Surname/Address has changed, how do I update my Federation Records?
A. If your surname or address changes for any reason, please inform DPF Headquarters as soon as possible on the DPF Form (DPF COPD1), Change of Personal Details. It is your responsibility to inform the DPF of any changes to your personal details.
